It is designed to power PoE 6 access points in your home and other PoE devices such as security cameras, video doorbells, and alarm systems, while also functioning as your Eero Gateway, effectively acting as both the router and the managed network switch for your home network setup.

The device features 10 Ethernet ports: two 10GbE ports and eight 2.5GbE PoE ports. The 10GbE ports are WAN/LAN auto-sensing 10GBASE-T ports, while the rest are auto-sensing 2.5GBASE-T PoE ports. It has enough power to support up to seven PoE devices simultaneously, and you can monitor the power consumption over Ethernet through the Eero app.

• A free mobile app is available for setup, configuration, and monitoring.
• Software support includes at least five years of bug fixes and security updates. The five-year countdown begins when Eero discontinues the model and stops selling it, not at the time of your purchase.
• Wi-Fi scheduling allows you to set online and offline times for individual devices or the entire network.
• Multi-admin functionality enables multiple users to manage an Eero account and easily transfer control to others.
• The Smart Home Hub feature lets you control Alexa and other smart devices using Zigbee and Thread radios. This feature requires you to link an Amazon account to your Eero account.
• A basic guest network is available, which can be set up with or without a password. To add a captive portal or additional SSIDs, you need Eero for Business, but more details on that will be provided later.
